To pass a CLEP exam and earn college credit, you need a solid mastery of the subject matter—and it's very possible for you to accomplish this on your own with the right resources. Whether you just need a refresher for a subject you already know well, or you want to study an entire course worth of material independently, the exam pages will point you to the best resources available.

Instructions

  1. Go to the exam page for the exam you want to take to see an outline of the skills and knowledge covered by the exam.

    The exam page will give you an outline of the material covered by the test that you can use to make a study plan. You can also see a detailed breakdown of how important each topic is relative to the test as a whole.

  2. See the recommended textbooks and online resources on the exam page.

    The Study Resources link at the bottom of the exam page will take you to a list of recommended textbooks and online resources that you can use to prepare.

  3. Take free CLEP online courses.

    Sign up for free online courses through the Modern States' Freshman Year for Free program. This program helps students earn up to one year of college credit without tuition or textbook expenses.
