CLEP Resources for College Board Higher Education Score Reporting Portal
On this page, higher education professionals will find electronic score report (ESR) data layouts for CLEP scores sent to your institution through the centralized College Board Higher Education Score Reporting Portal. ESR data is delivered in two file formats: fixed-width (TXT) and comma-delimited (CSV).
The Higher Education Score Reporting Portal offers two ways to retrieve scores:
- Download scores directly from the portal as nonencrypted, fixed-width (TXT) or comma-delimited (CSV) files—no technical setup required. Individual student reports can also be downloaded in PDF format.
- Set up automated downloads through a web API. Files are available in the same fixed-width (TXT) or comma-delimited (CSV) formats. Unlike the current process, these files will no longer require decryption. Share the layout specifications and sample files with your technology team to support automated retrieval.
File layouts are the same whether you retrieve files directly from the portal or through the web API. We recommend reviewing these layouts ahead of early 2027, since some details differ from the files you receive through current channels.
