On CLEP exam day, whether at a CLEP test center or with remote proctoring, test takers aren't allowed to use their own calculators. Because of this, calculators are integrated into the CLEP exam software to help test takers solve questions on some CLEP science and math exams and the Financial Accounting exam.
To practice using these calculators, visit the ETS Calculator Practice page. Select the appropriate exam from the drop-down menu. Here's more exam-specific information:
A graphing calculator, the TI-84 Plus CE, is available to students during Section 2 of the CLEP Calculus exam. Only certain questions require this calculator.
Chemistry, College Algebra, and College Mathematics
A scientific (nongraphing) calculator, the TI-30XS MultiView, is available to students during these exams. Students are expected to know how and when to use the calculator.
A four-function calculator is available during the exam as part of the testing software. Because the use of this calculator is straightfoward, it's NOT covered by the ETS Calculator Practice page.
The TI-84 Plus CE graphing calculator is integrated into the exam software. It's available during Section 1 of the exam. Only certain questions require this calculator.
Visit the CLEP Exams Overview page for details about each exam and the types of questions that may require a calculator.
