CLEP College Board Higher Ed Centralized Score Delivery FAQs
What is changing with CLEP score delivery?
College Board is moving toward a centralized higher education score portal that will eventually house scores for all College Board programs, including CLEP.
What is the current method for receiving CLEP scores?
At this time, institutions receive CLEP scores through:
- Paper score reports mailed to institutions, or
- Electronic Score Reporting (ESR).
These methods will continue for all institutions during the pilot period.
What is the CLEP higher education portal?
The portal will be a secure online platform where higher education institutions can access CLEP scores electronically, similar to existing College Board higher education portals used for other programs (e.g., AP). Additional functionality will be shared as it becomes available.
What is the CLEP pilot program?
This pilot is a limited rollout involving a small group of institutions to test CLEP score delivery through the higher education portal ahead of a broader transition.
When will this change happen?
As early as mid-year, CLEP will begin a pilot program with a select group of participating institutions. Broader timelines will be shared in the coming months.
Is my institution part of the pilot?
Only a limited number of institutions will participate. Selected institutions will be contacted directly in the coming months.
Can institutions request to join the pilot or be added to a waitlist?
At this time, there is no open enrollment or waitlist for the pilot. Selected institutions will be notified directly. Additional information about future participation opportunities will be shared at a later date.
What happens if my institution doesn't participate in the pilot?
Nothing changes at this time. All institutions will continue to receive CLEP scores through existing electronic and paper delivery methods.
Will current CLEP score delivery methods be discontinued during the pilot?
No. During the pilot, all existing score delivery methods will continue through standard channels.
How does this compare to AP score access?
AP scores are already available through a higher education portal that allows institutions to log in and download scores. CLEP’s transition is intended to move toward a similar experience.
Do institutions need to take any action now?
No action is required at this time.
When will institutions receive more information?
Additional details, including timelines and next steps, will be shared in the coming months.
Will this affect how students send CLEP scores?
No. There is no impact to students or student score sends at this time.
Who should institutions contact with questions?
Institutions may contact [email protected] or reach out through standard College Board support channels.
