Information for Parents
Did you know that your child can earn college credit and shorten his or her path to a college degree even before applying to college? By taking any of the 33 College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) exams, your child can minimize the time it takes to graduate, and seriously reduce the cost. CLEP is accepted by2,900 colleges and universities and administered in over 1,800 test centers.
- At $80, CLEP is a fraction of the tuition and fees for a college course.
- CLEP can lower the burden of college loans by eliminating the cost for one or more courses.
- A satisfactory score on any of the 33 CLEP exams can earn your child up to 12 college credits.
- Taking CLEP exams early can help your child fulfill the requirements of his or her major more quickly.

For Test-Takers Under the Age of 13
The U.S. Federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) requires website operators to obtain parent/guardian consent before collecting personal information from children under 13 years of age.
As a result, if your child is under the age of 13 she/he cannot create an account on My Account. You must download and complete the CLEP Account Creation Consent Form and return it by fax to 610-628-3726 or by U.S. mail to CLEP, PO Box 6600, Princeton, NJ 08541-6600. We are happy to create the account on your child’s behalf. Please note: processing of the form and creation of the test-taker’s account can take up to 7 business days to complete.
